AMBASSADOR CHAIR CARE & MAINTENANCE GUIDE
Looking After Your Ambassador Lift Chair
Thank you for choosing an Ambassador Motion Furniture lift and recline chair.
Your chair has been designed and manufactured in Australia to provide many years of safe and reliable operation. Like any mechanical product with moving parts, regular cleaning, inspection and maintenance are essential to maximise comfort, performance and longevity.
A few minutes of maintenance every few months can help prevent unnecessary repairs and ensure your chair continues to operate smoothly for years to come.
Routine Maintenance Checklist
We recommend inspecting your chair every 3 months.
✓ Check and tighten bolts
Inspect all accessible bolts, nuts, and fasteners throughout the chair mechanism.
Over time, normal operation can cause bolts to loosen. Loose bolts allow excess movement within the frame and lifting mechanism, which places additional stress on the chair’s moving components.
✓ Lubricate moving parts
Lubricate all moving joints, pivot points, and lifting mechanisms.
We recommend using:
- INOX
- WD-40 Specialist
- Equivalent quality lubricant
Wipe away any excess lubricant after application.
✓ Clean underneath the chair
Dust, pet hair and debris can accumulate around moving parts and restrict movement.
Vacuum and wipe accessible areas regularly.
✓ Inspect power leads
Check power cables and connectors for signs of damage, wear or fraying.
If damage is present, disconnect power immediately and contact your retailer.
✓ Listen for changes
Unusual noises such as:
- Squeaking
- Grinding
- Clicking
- Excessive movement may indicate the chair requires maintenance or servicing.
✓ Back up battery
The chair has a back up battery. Test the battery every few months by turning off the power supply and using the chair as normal. It will beep, run slower and louder. Turn the power supply back on. The back up battery will need to be replaced by a technician every 3-5 years.
If the battery is not working. Contact your retailer to replace the back up battery.
IMPORTANT: BOLT INSPECTION
Loose Bolts Cause Most Preventable Chair Failures
One of the most common causes of avoidable lift chair damage is loose or missing bolts.
During everyday use, the lifting mechanism repeatedly moves under load. Over time, vibration and movement can gradually loosen fasteners.
When bolts loosen:
*The chair frame develops excess movement.
*Moving components become misaligned.
*Additional force is transferred to the actuator and lifting mechanism. Overloading the acuators and voiding warranty
*Premature wear and component failure can occur.
If ignored, a simple loose bolt can lead to expensive repairs that could otherwise have been avoided.
We Recommend
- Check all accessible bolts every 3 months.
- Tighten any loose bolts immediately.
- Replace missing or damaged bolts before continuing to use the chair.
- Arrange servicing if you are unsure how to inspect the chair safely.
Important: Damage resulting from loose, missing or broken bolts is considered preventable maintenance-related damage and may not be covered under warranty.
Cleaning Your Chair
Fabric Care for our standard fabric range
- Vacuum regularly.
- Clean the spills immediately.
- Wipe with a slightly damp cloth.
- Allow fabric to air dry naturally.
- Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
Removable arm, headrest and overlay covers may be hand washed in cold water and hung to dry in the shade.
Custom fabrics, vinyl or barrier products.
Please request specific product and care instructions for your chosen fabric or vinyl chair cover from your retailer when you purchase the chair.
The chair covers in vinyl or barrier fabrics need to be regularity cleaned/ neutralised and sanitised to ensure the longevity of the product.
In rare cases, we have seen that medications interact with perspiration, perspiration, and body heat over long periods, and cleaning products have broken down sections of material in teh seat and back pillows, and this considered beyond reasonable wear by suppliers and is not covered under warranty. The replacement of these sections will be required to maintain the waterproof qualities and protect the foam from moisture. This is easily arranged with your retailer.
Most stains can be cleaned using warm soapy water, followed by clean water rinsing.
Failure to follow cleaning instructions may permanently stain and reduce the life of the vinyl or barrier product.
Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
Rips, stains, and deterioration in sections or wear will not be covered by supplier’s warranty.

- Used for its intended purpose.
